Maastricht has a lively street scène, Students, shoppers, crowded outdoor café's and many restaurants provide an almost Bourgundian atmosphere.

The Vrijthof and the Onze-lieve-vrouweplein are amongst the favorite places to visit and despite being the capital of the province of Limburg its shares very little in common with the rest of the country.
